I continued along Calle Mayor to get to Plaza del Sol. I stopped for a drink at the KFC where I met Joaquim from Columbia. A chemical engineer, he is in Madrid to get a siness related masters degree. Until our chat, I'll admit to being confused about all the football mania. He did a good job of explaining that the Champions league was not just represented by Madrid Real but also by Athletica Madrid. Thus the game Real played against Manchester the evening before wasn't the only excitement and it explained the presence of the German fans since their team would be playing Athletica that night. Technically, it might be an all-Madrid final! BUT... I believe the finals were going to be played in Italy??
I did a bit of shopping at or near the Plaza before taking in a few sites around the area and walking back towards my hotel.
